In July 2018, Professor Hu Yu and Professor Fan Hong from the School of Journalism and Communication led a student team, comprising of 12 students from different schools and departments of Tsinghua, to embark on a trip to Brazil.
In response to the “Belt and Road Initiative” to enhance the students' better understanding of building a community with a shared future for mankind, the Tsinghua teachers and students participated in the “New Silk Road Exploration” overseas practice project and the “Global Competence Overseas Practice Course” to go to the “Belt and Road Initiative” countries and conduct social practices.
At their first stop in Brazil, they arrived at the Rio de Janeiro favelas, and communicate with the young musicians from the Symphony Orchestra. During the communication, the orchestra welcomed the Tsinghua team by playing several famous songs.
