The Party Committee of the Precision Instrumentation Department organized more than 30 members, including theoretical study center group members and party branch secretaries of teachers and students, to visit the special exhibition "Songs in the Flames — Tsinghua During the Anti-Japanese War" at the University History Museum on the morning of September 9, 2025. This activity aimed to commemorate Tsinghua University's historical contributions during the Anti-Japanese War, deeply pay tribute to the Tsinghua martyrs who sacrificed their lives for national liberation and world peace, and vigorously promote the great anti-Japanese war spirit and Tsinghua's glorious tradition of patriotic dedication.
As the Director of the University History Museum and Archives, Sun Haitao provided detailed explanations during the visit. Following the threads of history, teachers and students gained a deep understanding of the eventful years of Tsinghua during the Anti-Japanese War. Faced with the profound suffering brought by imperialist aggression, teachers and students of Tsinghua, with unwavering determination, actively engaged in the great struggle of resisting Japanese aggression and national salvation, stepping forward at the critical moment of national survival. Some persisted in teaching and research amidst the flames of war, preserving precious cultural embers for the nation; others bravely fought on the front lines, interpreting the Tsinghua people's spirit of patriotism and devotion to the country with their lives. It was these heroic deeds that made indelible contributions to the victory of the Anti-Japanese War.
This visit profoundly impacted teachers and students, leaving them feeling deeply moved and inspired. Everyone expressed that the patriotism and sense of national responsibility demonstrated by Tsinghua teachers and students during the Anti-Japanese War constitute precious wealth that new-era Tsinghuans should inherit and carry forward. We must draw strength from that period of flames and turmoil, further promote the great anti-Japanese war spirit, continue Tsinghua's glorious tradition of patriotic dedication, closely integrate personal aspirations with national needs, overcome "bottleneck" technologies with a pursuit of excellence in scientific research, forge ahead with determination and courage, and contribute our efforts to the country's technological progress and social development.
