On the morning of May 17th, the New Hydraulic Engineering Hall 300 was the venue for a themed Party and League Day event titled "Steering the Course with Original Aspiration, Forging Ahead to Write a New Chapter". This collaborative event was co-hosted by the Department of Precision Instruments of Tsinghua University, the School of Chemical Engineering of Xiamen University, and the School of Human Settlements of Xi'an Jiaotong University. Bai Benfeng, who serves as both the Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President of Tsinghua University, was in attendance and engaged with the students.

Zhang Gaofei, the Party Secretary of the Department of Precision Instruments, opened the event with a welcoming speech for the participating universities and students. Xiao Qirong, the Deputy Party Secretary, provided an overview of the practical education initiatives undertaken by the Department of Precision Instruments, emphasizing the development of a diverse practical activity system that has been both extensive in reach and substantial in its outcomes. Notably, this year, the department integrated employment practice with the doctoral forum, organizing a dual-selection fair during the forum and welcoming 28 enterprises to join. Wang Xinke, the Deputy Party Secretary of Xi'an Jiaotong University's School of Human Settlements, presented the school's distinctive approach to education, which involves integrating Party building to preserve the red heritage, merging disciplines to foster the unity of knowledge and action, and promoting inter-university collaborative education. Nie Xin, the Deputy Party Secretary of Xiamen University's School of Chemical Engineering, discussed the college's innovative "practice-essay recruitment-speech" model, which aims to deepen practical education by aligning majors with scientific innovation to support social development.

During the practice team sharing session, the representative of Xiamen University's "Zhumeng Longde" practice team recounted their experience of assisting agriculture in Ningxia through technology, enhancing silage feed, and promoting the industrialization of microbial feed additives, impacting 6 enterprises and over 20 farmers. The social practice team of Zundao Xingyi Red Travel from Xi'an Jiaotong University revisited the historic sites in Zunyi, combining theoretical propaganda with rural research and integrating regular propaganda into their practice. The "Yanxing" Shantou-Xiamen team from Tsinghua's Department of Precision Instruments conducted an investigation into the wind power industry in Shantou and Xiamen, fostering a sense of "family and country" and promoting a survey on the employment intentions of branch members. Following the practice, the proportion of active members in the branch rose significantly, with approximately 65% of the students expressing a willingness to work in the central and western regions and other areas where the motherland requires their services the most.

Following the sharing session, the teachers and students were divided into three groups to engage in lively discussions about the insights gained from their practical experiences. After these discussions, representatives from each group shared the profound experiences discussed within their groups. The representative from Xiamen University suggested that majors should be integrated with practice, and that participation in practice could be enhanced through industry-university-research cooperation and alumni mentoring. The representative from Xi'an Jiaotong University emphasized the importance of integrating ideological guidance into practice, deepening theoretical understanding through scenario-based and three-dimensional experiences, and creating a "walking ideological and political course". The representative from Tsinghua University proposed that employment guidance should be strengthened by exchanging role models (such as industry station chiefs, alumni) and organizing practice in conjunction with employment data to avoid formalism.

Bai Benfeng fully endorsed the outcomes of the themed Party and League Day event and, guided by "On Practice", highlighted the crucial role and significance of participating in social practice for deepening national cognition, enhancing professional quality, and promoting technology transformation. He expressed his hope that young students would proactively serve the needs of the country, write their theses on the land of the motherland during the process of thinking and practicing, and be educated, grow in talent, and contribute through social practice.

The event was attended by more than fifty teachers and students, encompassing representatives from Xiamen University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, the Organization Department and Practice Department of the Postgraduate Student Union of Tsinghua University, and the Party and League branches of the Department of Precision Instruments, such as the 23rd Party and League branch of the Master's program, the 43rd Party and League branch of the Doctoral program, and the 4th Party and League branch of the Master's program of the Precision Instruments.
