The 2024 Seminar on Student Affairs and Party Building Work of the Department of Precision Instruments was held at the Technical Science Building on the evening of December 19th. Over 60 participants attended the seminar, encompassing Zhang Gaofei, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Department, Deng Lei, Head of the Postgraduate Student Affairs Group under the Department's Party Committee, undergraduate class advisors, instructors for the Science and Technology Association, all undergraduate counselors, postgraduate moral education assistants, key members of student organizations such as the Youth League Committee, Student Union, Science and Technology Association, Postgraduate Youth League Committee, and Postgraduate Student Union, class and Youth League branch leaders, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate party branch secretaries and committee members. The seminar was hosted by Xiao Qirong, Deputy Secretary of the Department's Party Committee.

Firstly, Xiao Qirong offered an overview of the student affairs work of the Department over the past year, covering areas such as student party building, academic innovation, employment practice, and ideological and political education, who pointed out that under the leadership of the Department's Party Committee, the student affairs work has continuously innovated and reformed, advancing the construction of a collaborative education system that deeply integrates the "Three-Aspect Education" and the "Five-Domain Development", achieving remarkable results. In the meantime, he also highlighted the current challenges and problems faced by the student affairs work.

Deng Lei and Zou Yixuan delivered reports on postgraduate and undergraduate student affairs, respectively, who comprehensively summarized the student affairs work at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, offering prospects for future work. Zou Yixuan made the summary of the undergraduate student affairs work from several aspects, encompassing the overall situation of undergraduates, ideological and political guidance, the construction of the "Five-Domain Development", the cultivation of innovation and entrepreneurship, and joint work with the residential colleges. Deng Lei focused on the introduction to the postgraduate student affairs work, proposing to enrich the forms of party building activities, innovate the setup of grassroots party branches, conduct ideological and political education for postgraduate students based on the situation, continuously promote the "Five-Domain Development" education policy, and build a comprehensive student development support system with the characteristics of the Department of Precision Instruments, so as to help students grow and thrive.

Following this, representatives of student leaders engaged in the sharing of their work experiences and delved into effective measures to further improve the quality of student affairs work in the Department. Withe regard to student organizations, Weng Peixin, President of the Future Instrument Interest Group for undergraduates, introduced the group's new ideas and achievements in participating in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions and encouraging undergraduate students to engage in scientific research. Zhu Ruiyi, Secretary of the Postgraduate Youth League Branch, and Liu Hanxiao, President of the Postgraduate Student Union, respectively introduced the work of the Postgraduate Youth League Committee and the Postgraduate Student Union in areas such as ideological and political guidance, practical research, volunteer services, and the "Five-Domain Development", creating a series of brand activities with the characteristics of the Department.

When it comes to the construction of party branches, class committees, and Youth League branches, Li Shenhong, monitor of Class 13 of the Precision Instruments, and Shi Jiahui, monitor of PhD Class 211 of the Precision Instruments, respectively represented undergraduate and postgraduate class committees, introducing their experiences and achievements in academic atmosphere construction, ideological cohesion, practical activities, and volunteer services, and proposing innovative ideas for class construction. Zheng Mingcan, the class assistant for Postgraduate Class 23 of the Precision Instruments, introduced how to build a cohesive party branch with the characteristics of the Department from aspects such as ideological guidance and the cultivation of party and Youth League leaders.

The exceptional student party branches and party branch secretaries of the Department for the year 2023 were also commended at the seminar. Finally, Zhang Gaofei, Secretary of the Department's Party Committee, highly praised the construction and achievements of the student affairs team over the past year in his concluding remarks. Centered around the goal of cultivating top-notch innovative talents with both moral integrity and professional competence, the student affairs work methods of the Department have continuously innovated, and the work system has continuously improved, which also effectively contributed to the all-round development of students beyond achieving excellent results in evaluations. Zhang Gaofei also put forward new requirements for future student affairs and party building work: to continuously strive for excellence, to continue promoting high-quality student affairs work with a perfect score, to adhere to the "Five-Domain Development" and practice the "Three-Aspect Education", taking student needs as the starting point and endpoint of work, and to make the work more effective.

Being the largest annual seminar on student affairs and party building work in the Department of Precision Instruments, this meeting achieved the purpose of unifying thoughts, enhancing understanding, as well as propelling the inheritance and exchange of work methods, which was a complete success.
