On the afternoon of June 13th, the Department of Precision Instruments organized a teaching salon in Room 401 of Building 9003. The event centered around two main topics: the empowerment of teaching through AI and the creation of a series of high-quality textbooks. The salon included a special presentation by Dr. Xu Ning from the "Qing Xia Da" team, titled "Generative AI Empowerment in Education and Teaching", a progress report by Professor Li Yuhe on the "Localization of DeepSeek in the Department of Precision Instruments Experimental Teaching Center", and an informative session by Editor Wang Xin from Tsinghua University Press on "Advancing Textbook Development for the Department of Precision Instruments and Nurturing Top-notch Innovative Talent". Prior to the guest presentations, Zhang Gaofei, the Party Secretary of the Department of Precision Instruments, highlighted the strategic significance of AI in education and teaching, encouraging all department teachers to actively engage in AI-driven teaching reforms and scientific research.
During the discussion segment, the attending teachers had in-depth interactions with the presenters, connecting the topics to their own courses and textbook development experiences. They explored with Xu Ning the integration of professional course content and resources to build intelligent agents and enhance teaching effectiveness swiftly. At present, the localized DeepSeek in the Department of Precision Instruments Experimental Teaching Center offers course access functionality. Teachers can log in with their accounts to upload course slides and other materials, making them available for students to study and practice. Concerning textbook development, the participating teachers shared their plans and current progress in writing textbooks. To address the challenges faced during the textbook writing process, the three editors from Tsinghua University Press provided comprehensive answers and devised strategies to further the textbook publication efforts.
