The Beijing key lab of precision/ultra precision manufacturing equipments and control initiated in the Institute of Manufacturing Engineering

The result of Beijing Key Lab campaign was announced recently, and the precision/ultra precision manufacturing equipments and control lab (PMECL) based at the Institute of Manufacturing Engineering (IME) was successfully awarded as the Beijing Key Lab. There were more than 10 institutes/organizations run for the award in the area of manufacturing this year, and the PMELC ranked top all the way through the election.

The election for the Beijing key lab lasts for almost 1 year from the initial evaluation, proposal defense, and final on-field assessment, which required intensive demonstration of IME’s development philosophy, research foundation, and accomplishments during all 3 phases. The entire preparation process was organized by the IME committee and accomplished by a close collaboration of all IME faculty and staff members, the colleagues from sibling research institutes, and the support from the university and department.

“This award was an acknowledgement of our research capability in the field of precision and ultra-precision manufacturing area. And the success also lied in the collective efforts of all IME members and the support from the colleagues”, Prof. Peiqing Ye – the director of IME, said, “In the future, we believe the Beijing key lab will sever as a higher platform for the advancement of our research profile as well as the Beijing City.”
