The Seminar On Co-constructing The Discipline Of Instrument Science And Technology Was Held By Tsinghua University and Beijing Information Science and Technology University

On December 15, the seminar on co-constructing the discipline of instrument science and technology by Tsinghua University and Beijing Information Science and Technology University was held at the Jiuxianqiao Campus of Beijing Information Science and Technology University. Representatives from Tsinghua University attending the seminar include Liu Qiang, secretary of the Party committee of the Department of Precision Instrument, Ouyang Zheng, dean of the Department of Precision Instrument, Tan Yidong, vice dean in charge of researching, Wang Peng, vice dean in charge of teaching, Wu Guanhao, vice secretary of the Party committee in charge of student work, and leaders or representatives from 8 research teams. Wang Jing, vice director of the Development Planning Division and vice director of the Discipline Office, and Hu Hua, vice director of the Degree Office of the Graduate School were also invited to the seminar. Representatives from Beijing Information Science and Technology University include Yu Shijie, vice president, Wang Xingfen, executive vice dean of the Graduate School, Dong Mingli, dean of the School of Instrument Science and Optoelectronic Engineering, and related representatives.

Yu Shijie gave the welcome speech. Wang Jing, Hu Hua, Liu Qiang, and Ouyang Zheng highly recognized the co-construction of the discipline of instrument science and technology by Tsinghua University and Beijing Information Science and Technology University. They expressed that constructing disciplines jointly was both a challenge and an opportunity for the development of both universities and hopefully the universities could achieve win-win cooperation in personnel training, faculty recruiting, international cooperation and research output, thus realizing the goal of "1+1>2".

8 research teams from the Department of Precision Instruments gave detailed introductions to their research fields, current situations and development goals. The teams include intelligent microsystems, advanced laser technology, biomedical scientific instruments, brain-like computing science, space-time datum technology, micro-nano measurement, control and health monitoring technology, ultra-precision photoelectric test technology and nano-optics. Zhu Lianqing, principal of the Department of Instrument Science and Technology at Beijing Information Science and Technology University, gave a general introduction to the discipline of instrument science and technology of Beijing Information Science and Technology University.

During the interval, participants visited the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education for optoelectronic testing technology and instruments. Lou Xiaoping, vice president of the School of Instrument Science and Optoelectronic Engineering at Beijing Information Science and Technology University, thoroughly introduced the overview, current state and development roadmap of the lab.

Liu Qiang pointed out in his summary that in building the discipline of instrument science and technology with Beijing Information Science and Technology University, the goal of"big hand pulling the small hand” can be realized. Given this opportunity, the discipline, platform and team construction of the Department of Precision Instruments at Tsinghua University should also be promoted to a new level.

At last, Yu Shijie expressed his appreciation to the Department of Precision Instruments at Tsinghua University for its strong, constant support for the discipline of instrument science and technology of Beijing Information Science and Technology University. Under the guidance of the Department of Precision Instruments at Tsinghua University, Beijing Information Science and Technology University will concentrate human and material resources, speed up the development of all aspects, and strive to build a "double first-class" discipline in Beijing.
