Exhibition on Shanxi's Ancient Civilization Opens at Tsinghua University

Tsinghua University and the Shanxi Cultural Relics Bureau jointly launched a special exhibition entitled "Splendor of Huaxia: The Essence of Shanxi's Ancient Civilization" in the university's art museum on Oct 8, 2021.

The themed exhibition displayed over 300 cultural relics contributed by 11 cultural and museum institutions from Shanxi. The exhibited items date from the late paleolithic period to the Ming Dynasty and over half of them are classified as first-level cultural relics.

A takeover ceremony was also held to celebrate the induction of a Spring-and-Autumn-Period bronze ding tripod with coiled-dragon pattern into the collection of Tsinghua University.

Tsinghua University and Shanxi have achieved noticeable progress in their cooperation on platform building, scientific research, the application of research results, personnel training and strategic research since they reached a strategic cooperation agreement in 2016.

Chen Xu, Chairperson of Tsinghua University Council, said in her speech that Tsinghua University and Shanxi should further expand the scope of their cooperation and strive to make glorious contributions to the high-quality transformation of the province's economic and social development and the building of Tsinghua University as a leading world-class university with joint efforts in the future.

According to organizers, the themed exhibition will last until January 9, 2022.
