Swamped by conflicting information and lost in a sea of voices, how can we make sense of China? To understand China’s distinct past and make a sound judgement about its possible future trajectories, one needs not only to gather facts about this country, but more importantly, also to grasp analytical tools, or “killer apps”, which can help to organize and interpret those facts. Drawing on practical cases and conceptual frameworks in five areas of Chinese experiences, namely history, politics, economy, society and foreign relations, this session will introduce five “killer apps” that will enhance your analytical abilities for understanding the world’s second largest economy and arguably the most important shaping force for the 21st century.
