A nanotechnology company under Tsinghua University yesterday announced that it had developed silver nanoparticles which have proven effective as anti-microbial agents. The silver nanoparticles, developed by the Tsinghua-Yuanxing Nano-Material Co in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong Province, can fight a wide range of pathogens and maintain effectiveness even in water. A panel of experts in Beijing said the proprietary product can be used in various fields, including personal healthcare, cosmetics, ceramics for kitchens and lavatories and water treatment.
