Thirty-two undergraduate and graduate students of Tsinghua University who major in mechanical and nuclear engineering have been awarded scholarships by Areva/Framatome ANP, one of the world's leading nuclear companies.
Two hundred students have benefited from the scholarships, which were launched five years ago. The amount of the first grade of these scholarships is 6,000 yuan (US$722) per year, which is the highest amount among all kinds of scholarships at Tsinghua.
Based on an agreement signed in September 1998, Avera/Framatome and Tsinghua jointly identified eight co-operative projects which include two scholarships in the Department of Engineering Mechanics and two in the Institute of Nuclear Engineering and Technology, and six research projects of mutual interest, mainly implemented at Tsinghua, covering the design and manufacture of nuclear equipments.
