The Beijing-based Qinghua University Monday launched an Internet consultant service for highschool graduates who have just completed the national college entrance exams.

Zong Junfeng, head of the university's enrollment office, said that through the electronic pre-application program, students who intended to go to Qinghua might log on the website at www.join-tsinghua.edu.cn, fill in forms and click the submit buttons after completion.

All the students' personal information and data would be treated confidentially and promptly by faculty members, who would provide general information and guidance on the university, schools and even specific departments.

The purpose of the service was to educate students on the requirements, course settings, facilities, campus life and other matters.

The students could submit their estimated exam scores and change them once they received the real marks. They could also check their application status.

Even though the service would not be considered as support material for formal applications, it did provide the latest information for prospective students and intensify ties between students and faculty members, said Zong.
