Western Ties to China

Western President Paul Davenport and two University faculty members solidified the close collaboration between Western and two universities in China during a recent visit in March.

Davenport and engineering professor Jesse Zhu visited Sichuan University in Chengdu where they met with Sichuan President Heping Xie. The two presidents discussed initiating student exchanges between the two universities that have collaboration in engineering. Davenport gave a public lecture to more than 200 students on the Imperatives of International Collaboration in the New Global Economy.

Davenport, Zhu and Ivey Hong Kong Associate Dean Kathleen Slaughter also visited Tsinghua University and the National Accounting Institute. The president met with Tsinghua Vice-President Kegong and discussed closer collaboration between the business schools and engineering schools at Western and Tsinghua.
