Twenty-five well-known Chinese universities say they are looking forward to admitting more students from Egypt.
A recent exhibition highlighting the academic merits of Chinese universities has proven popular in Cairo.
This has inspired Chinese educational authorities to plan for a growing number of Egyptian students.
The two-day exhibition was held at prestigious Ain Shams University, home to some 100,000 Egyptian students. Egyptian officials and ordinary families were very enthusiastic.
Lu Xunwu, Assistant President of Beijing Broadcasting University, said, "Such a large number of visitors is quite unexpected. People stop at every booth, asking everything about Chinese universities. Some of them even speak Chinese."
Top universities in the Chinese capital of Beijing have much appeal to the young Egyptian students. They are full of praise for Chinese institutions.
An Egyptian student said, "For me, the best Chinese university is of course Tsinghua University. I certainly want to go to study there. Other universities in Beijing are also fine." While another one said, "I like Chinese and I want to improve my Chinese in the best Chinese universities. Tsinghua and Peking Universities are where I want to be. It would be such wonderful experience to live in the culture. "
The number of students from Arab countries has been increasing on Chinese campuses. Most of them come to China for language study. But in recent years, more and more students have been choosing to study engineering or biological science at Chinese universities.
