Ordos and Tsinghua University to build a "low-carbon valley"

14:43, March 26, 2010

The "China Ordos Low-Carbon Valley," a symbolic project to promote eco-friendly growth in the Inner Mongolian city of Ordos, is underway. Ordos, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Tsinghua University will team up to build the valley.

Ordos produces the most coal among China's prefecture-level cities. The "low-carbon valley" reflects Ordos' efforts to accelerate and transform the economic growth mode and promote socio-economic development in a green and sustainable way.

Combining scientific research, industrial transition and urban functions, the valley will attract all kinds of high-end research institutions and hi-tech enterprises. This "low-carbon valley" will help speed up commercialization of research findings and become a demonstration zone characterized by low-carbon technology and multiple functions.
