On December 15, Tsinghua University kicked off the Leading Plan, which includes interviews and a physical test for potential students; 406 top students from around the country attended the test. The interview questions covered current events, while the physical component tested flexibility, the standing long jump, vital capacity, etc, the Beijing Morning Post reported.

Of the 239 male students and 167 female students, 1.2 percent scored an A and 34 percent scored a B; the rest failed to pass the exam. If a student is skillful in sports, then he or she can add 5 to 10 points to their score when taking the gaokao, the administration office said.
