Pelican Dust Collectors from Academy of Arts & Design Won IF Design Award 2015

The 62th German IF Design Award 2015 was recently announced in Hamburg. The Dustproof Pelican Cup (protected by patent) designed by a MA student team from the Academy of Arts and Design, Tsinghua University, led by HONG Huachao and supervised by Pro. JIANG Hongbin, won the IF Concept Design Award.

This Pelican Dust Collectors are a great new way to capture dust when using a drill. No matter it is drilling on the wall, or even on the ceiling, you can always keep the house clean.

Inspired by the bird pelican, it is a flexible plastic cover with dust collectors. It is easy to use- -simply set it in front of a drill. The geometry of surfaces is carefully designed, so the dust will automatically slide into the collectors from all directions. It provides complete visibility from the transparent surface with anti-static coating. The surface design also increase the stability of the vertical drill for straighter holes. The flange on the edge makes a stronger structure, which means less material and increased seal with the wall.

As one of the three top design awards, iF Design Award is also known as “the Oscar of Design”. The criteria is not only concerns with the aesthetic look, but also stresses the features, environmental protection, brand value and etc. There are nearly 11000 entries from more than 50 countries taking part in this competition.
