President Xi Jinping delivers a welcoming address

In the welcoming address, Xi Jinping extended his warm welcome to the visitors to the China Pavilion. He said that the Milan World Expo is focused on agriculture and food, a theme concerning the subsistence and development of every individual, and is therefore highly significant. Since ancient times, the Chinese people have held the belief that "Food is the paramount necessity of the people". As China is the largest developing country in the world, it is the primary mission in China's development to solve the problem of how to feed the more than 1.3 billion people in the country. For long, the Chinese people have relied on their own efforts in successfully solving this problem, laying a great foundation for the country's development.

Xi Jinping pointed out that in the China Pavilion, visitors can learn about China's long-standing agricultural civilization, advanced scientific and technological achievements and rich catering culture, which are all important parts that constitute the Chinese civilization. China attaches great importance to the issues of agriculture, rural areas and farmers, and deems them as a top priority in the entire work of the state. As China is now vigorously promoting the modernization of agriculture, it would like to exchange technology and experience with all countries in agriculture, maintain the food security of the world together, and jointly promote progress of human civilization.

Xi Jinping at last wished the Milan World Expo a success.
