Tsinghua-INSEAD dual degree EMBA Program ranked No.4 in the World
It would seem reasonable to assume that building a world class international executive business education program would take numerous years to accomplish. This is not the case for Tsinghua University and INSEAD, as their joint international EMBA program TIEMBA, just five years after its founding, was ranked fourth out of 100 global EMBA programs by the Financial Times. It was the first time the program was eligible to participate in the rankings.

The opening ceremony of the first TIEMBA class on June 8 2007
The first TIEMBA class began in June of 2007 with its opening ceremony at Tsinghua SEM in Beijing. The program has had a total of 242 students, including current students and alumni, representing 35 nationalities. The program features 10 learning modules that focus on a wide range of subjects and topics, including economics, finance, operations management, and cross-cultural communication. Five of the modules are held in the Tsinghua SEM campus in Beijing, while the other five are conducted in INSEAD’s campuses in Singapore, France and Abu Dhabi.
This was the first year that the TIEMBA program was eligible to participate in the rankings, as the rankings require a minimum of three years from the time that the first class graduated. The rankings methodology includes 16 categories and addresses three broad areas: Alumni salaries and career progress (55% weight); school diversity (25% weight); and idea generation (20% weight). The TIEMBA programme scored well in several different categories, including: work experience rank: #3; FT doctoral rank: #1; international course experience rank: #4; and faculty with doctorates: 95%.
"The diversity of the students, including their nationalities and professions, as well as their intellectual curiosity has made an extremely deep impression on me,” said Dean QIAN, whose course focuses on the economic develop process of China over the past several decades, analyzing the major challenges that the Chinese economy faces and China’s major development trends. “To achieve such a high ranking at this time was due to an inseparable combination of the diversity and internationalization of the program along with the pursuit of excellence spirit of Tsinghua University.”
