Famous Artist Han Meilin Appointed Tsinghua Professor

The famous Chinese artist Han Meilin was recently appointed to a professorship at Tsinghua. The ceremony marking this appointment was held on April 7 in Tsinghua's Main Building.
Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin attended the ceremony, as did many art students. It was hosted by Tsinghua Vice President Xie Weihe. "We are very happy that Mr. Han has become a member of Tsinghua University," said President Gu. Han presented one of his sculptures, one of his ink and wash paintings, and all of his writings to Tsinghua to celebrate its 100th anniversary.
Born in 1936, Han Meilin graduated from the Central School of Arts and Crafts Department of Fine Arts in 1960. He is the director of the commission of ceramic of the Chinese Artist Association, Chairman of the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Commission, and a professional writer of the Chinese Writers Association. Han has had painting exhibitions in 21 cities in the U.S.A..
