Zhang Baohua, Associate Professor from the Academy of Arts & Design, wins Color China award

On October 11th, Shangtex Holding Co., Ltd.  and the China Fashion & Color Association were assisted by the China Association for Science and Technology and the China National Textile and Apparel Council in hosting the 9th Color China award ceremony in Shanghai.  Zhang Baohua, Associate Professor from the Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University, was awarded the 2017 Color Award for Chinese Clothing (Scarf Category), for his “Chinese culture & art scarf series”.

Textile design is one of the most important components of modern art design and creation. It not only reflects the importance of basic human life but also the progress of social civilization as a cultural and historical symbol. In recent years, five solo exhibitions were held featuring Zhang Baohua’s artistic scarves, which combined innovative thinking, practice, teaching, research, product and market. In his works, he tries to reflect the cultural confidence and cultural consciousness of the Chinese people and lead them to pay attention to this art field.

Mr. Zhang regards the scarf as a bearer of culture. He created the “Chinese culture & art scarf series” by combining traditional elements with contemporary characteristics. By appreciating the artistry of the scarves, people will experience the beauty of colors and shapes, craftsmanship and the hidden meanings inherent in traditional culture.
