Vice-Chancellor of Cambridge University Visits Tsinghua
On April 15th, professor Leszek Borysiewicz, Vice-Chancellor of Cambridge University, visited Tsinghua University and had a meeting with the president of Tsinghua University Qiu Yong.

On behalf of Tsinghua University, Qiu Yong warmly welcomed professor Leszek Borysiewicz’s visit to Tsinghua, and expressed his delight in meeting him again since their last meeting in Davos this year. Qiu Yong said that Tsinghua has always attached importance to the cooperation with Cambridge University, and hoped that both sides will make efforts to deepen the cooperation in more fields and on more levels. He particularly emphasized the possibility of further cooperation and exchange with Cambridge University in medical science and personnel training.
Professor Borysiewicz also expressed the desire to promote the cooperation with Tsinghua University in scientific research and education.
Tsinghua staff members from the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange, Schwarzman College, the School of Medicine and the Department of Precision Instrument attended the meeting.
After the meeting, professor Borysiewicz paid a visit to Schwarzman College and inquired about its recent development.
Professor Borysiewicz officially took up the post of Vice-Chancellor of Cambridge University in 2010. A renowned medical scientist, professor Borysiewicz made honorable contributions in leading his research team to develop a vaccine to prevent cervical carcinoma, and for his outstanding work in this field he was awarded a knighthood by the Queen. Professor Borysiewicz's last visit to Tsinghua was in April, 2011, when he delivered a speech to teachers and students.
