President Qiu Yong Meets Apple CEO Tim Cook

Tsinghua news, May 12th — Apple CEO Tim Cook visited Tsinghua University on May 12th. Tsinghua University President Qiu Yong met with Cook, Tsinghua Vice President Yang Bin attended the meeting.

In the meeting, Qiu welcomed Cook’s visit on behalf of Tsinghua University. He said, “This is your first visit since I started serving as the president, and your third visit to Tsinghua, you are an old friend.”  He said, “You encouraged Tsinghus students to listen to their heart and do what really intrigues them, this is very important lessons to the students. The students of Tsinghua look forward to listen to Cook’s speech again. Thanks again to Apple’s support to Tsinghua University, and hopefully there will be further cooperations between the two."

Cook said, "We are proud to support Tsinghua University and the excellent students and faculty here. My visits to Tsinghua always impress me, and I look forward to visiting again for more interaction with its bright students."

After the meeting, the two sides signed a Tsinghua University - Apple cooperation framework agreement. Both parties will intensity cooperation in various areas. Apple will donate and sponsor Chair Professor at the Business Management School of Tsinghua University

Tim Cook is a member of the advisory board of Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management. He joined Apple in 1998 and took over the CEO position from Steve Jobs in 2011.
