Mark Hart from Cambridge School of Art  Gives Lectures in the Academy of Arts and Design

March 17th & March 19th, 2015, Mark Hart from Cambridge School of Art gave lectures named “Materiality& Fashion”, ”Visual Research for Design” in the Fur Art Lab. Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange Dr. Zang Yingchun hosted the lectures. Totally more than 70 students attended the lectures.

As a cutting-edge fashion designer and a senior lecturer, Mark Hart advised to find new materials in the unnoticed parts of interior and environment, or seek for the deep meanings of traditional materials through the process of deconstruction, venturing, and reproducing to make novel fashion garments. Mark stressed that “Research” is the basic and foundation in the process of creation, and systematically presented the method of visual research. He told the students how to approach the creation by altering perspectives in 2D, 3D and embodying research.

Since graduating Mark has exhibited work as part of London Fashion Week and successfully worked as a freelance women’s wear and knitwear designer, stylist, and creative pattern cutter for a variety of national and international brands. Previously appointed Course Leader in Foundation Art & Design (Fashion & Textiles) at Oxford Brookes University, and lecturer in Fashion Illustration at Kingston University, he specialized in surface textiles, pattern cutting and 3D design realization.
