President of the University of Chicago Visits Tsinghua

The President of the University of Chicago, Dr. Robert Zimmer, met with the President of Tsinghua University, Chen Jining, during his visit on December 21st.

During their talk, President Chen and Dr. Zimmer discussed cooperative efforts being carried out between the two universities and exchanged ideas on discipline construction, teaching, talent cultivation and university development.

Tsinghua University and the University of Chicago plan to host an event titled ‘Exploratory Workshop on Energy and Environmental Policy’, in January of 2013. The two universities also plan to further their cooperation in joint training and student exchanges.

Dr. Zimmer received his Ph.D. from Harvard University and became President of the University of Chicago, in 2006. Tsinghua Day at the University of Chicago was held in 2010, and provided an opportunity for faculty members and students from the two universities to meet and strengthen academic and cultural ties.

The University of Chicago is one of the most well-known private universities in the United States.
