President of U of Notre Dame Visits TU

Professor John Jenkins, President of the University of Notre Dame, visited Tsinghua University on June 30, 2011. Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin had a discussion with Professor Jenkins on further promoting collaboration between their universities.

During their talk, President Gu briefed Professor Jenkins on Tsinghua’s recent developments in education. President Gu remarked that Tsinghua University attaches great importance to international cooperation, and the summer research program from Notre Dame for students in Tsinghua’s Department of Computer Science and Technology will further promote the cooperation between the two universities. Professor Jenkins extended congratulations to Tsinghua’s 100th anniversary and gave an outline of the development of the University of Notre Dame. The two expressed the hope that more collaborations could be built in such areas as architecture and humanities as well as faculty and students exchange.

Professor Jenkins also visited the Centennial Garden that day.
