Mr. Thomas Pritzker, Chairman of the Hyatt Foundation, visited Tsinghua University on May 23. During his visit, a Memorandum of Understanding on the Pritzker-Tsinghua Fellowship Program between the Hyatt Foundation and Tsinghua's School of Architecture was signed. Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin had a discussion with Mr. Pritzker prior to the signing ceremony. They exchanged ideas on promoting further cooperation between Tsinghua and the Hyatt Foundation.

The Pritzker-Tsinghua Fellowship Program was inaugurated the same day. Tsinghua Ph.D. student Sun Chenguang became the first student to benefit from it. He will study for half a year in the studio of Italian famous contemporary master of architecture Renzo Piano, who won the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1998. In the coming years, more Tsinghua students in architecture will have opportunities to study or work with world-class masters of architecture under the Program.
Mr. Pritzker delivered a speech entitled "The story behind the Pritzker Architecture Prize: Can you be the next winner?" that day.
The Hyatt Foundation is a not-for-profit organization based in Chicago, Illinois. Using a portion of the Pritzker family fortune, it supports the Pritzker Architecture Prize whose aim is to honor a living architect whose built work demonstrates a combination of those qualities of talent, vision and commitment which has produced consistent and significant contributions to humanity and the built environment through the art of architecture.
