Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin Attends University Presidents Summit at Davos World Economic Forum

 

Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin attended the University Presidents Summit at the Davos World Economic Forum from January 25 to 29. He delivered a speech on "University Technology Transfer and the Combination of Production, Teaching and Research".

On the evening of January 28, Tsinghua University held a centenary celebration reception at Davos. Nearly 100 guests at the Forum attended the event, ncluding the Vice Chancellors and Presidents of such eminent institutions as the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Chicago, representatives from financial and business circles, and Tsinghua alumni. Ambassador He Yafei, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations at Geneva, also attended the ceremony. It was the first time that a Chinese university has held a reception at the World Economic Forum.

During the Forum, President Gu was invited to meet with Professor Dr. Klaus Schwab, Chairman of World Economic Forum. Professor Dr. Schwab expressed his hope that a strategic partnership would be established between Tsinghua and the World Economic Forum. President Gu also met with CEOs and Chairmen of several multinational corporations during his visit, exchanging with them views on promoting further cooperation.
