Professor John Hepburn, Vice President of the University of British Columbia in Canada, visited Tsinghua on January 13. During his visit, an agreement for student exchange agreement between the two institutions was signed.

Tsinghua Vice President Yuan Si had a discussion with Professor Hepburn, in which he presented an outline of Tsinghua's history and particularly its recent development. The two exchanged ideas on talent cultivation, foreign student education, research, faculty development, and international cooperation of their respective universities. Both expressed hope that further collaboration could be undertaken between the University of British Columbia and Tsinghua.
