Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin and Tsinghua Vice President Xie Weihe visited Japan from November 30 until December 4.
President Gu called at Nippon Keidanren and had a discussion with its Vice Chairmen Nakamura Kunio and Muneoka Shoji on future collaboration on December 1. President Gu delivered a speech that day on Tsinghua’s practices regarding education, research and cooperation to the Committee on China, Nippon Keidanren.

During his visit, President Gu had discussions with Professor Junichi Hamada, President of the University of Tokyo, and Professor Inoue Akihisa, President of Tohoku University. They exchanged ideas on enhancing further cooperation.

President Gu attended the 15th annual meeting of The Association of East Asian Research Universities (AEARU) held at Tohoku University on December 3 and delivered a speech titled “Strengthen Undergraduate Education: Measures and Advice”.

President Gu also visited Mr. Cui Tiankai, Chinese Ambassador to Japan, Mr. Shinji Hukukawa, Chairman of The Machine Industry Memorial Foundation, Mr. Akio Mimura, Chairman of Nippon Steel Corporation, Mr. Tsuneo Kita, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nikkei Inc., Mr. Takuya Okada, honorary chairman of AEON Co., Ltd, and Mr. Kiso Isao from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan during his five-day visit.
