A ceremony was held on December 10th to mark the 15th anniversary of Tsinghua Science Park (Tuspark).

Vice-chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Hua Jianmin, Vice Minister of Education Chen Xi, Mr. Joan Bellavista, President of International Association of Science Parks, Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin, Tsinghua University Council Honorary Chairman Wang Dazhong, Tsinghua Deputy President Chen Jining, and Tsinghua Vice President Kang Kejun attended the ceremony.

Founded in 1994, Tuspark is the only Class A university science park in China. It is situated in the heart of Beijing’s Zhongguancun Science Park, where many top universities, colleges and research institutions are clustered. As an outreach of the University's social services, the Science Park is positioned to be a base for incubating startups, fostering innovation, and commercializing intellectual property resulting from scientific research.

Tuspark has developed into the biggest university science park in the world, and its network covers nearly 30 cities and regions. It has gradually formed a complete park composed of various organizations such as high technology startup enterprises, multinational R&D institutes, financial investment bodies, and intermediary service agencies. It is also universally recognized as one of the best science parks in the field.

The “Tuspark Innovation Fund” was officially initiated at the ceremony. The fund, co-sponsored by the Tsinghua University Education Foundation and TusPark Holding Company, Ltd., aims to invest in Chinese high-tech enterprises with the greatest innovative capability. This indicates that Tuspark integrates existing financial resources based on its “Investment plus Incubation” mode, so as to improve the growth of innovative start-ups. The Tsinghua University TusPark Research Institute for Innovation was also inaugurated on that day.

In addition, in order to achieve a better linkage of talent between industry and university, the “Tuspark Undergraduate Entrepreneurial Base” was officially launched at the ceremony. It will nurture scientifically and technologically innovative personnel, enhance entrepreneurial ability, and stimulate employment through the multiplier effect. It not only provides undergraduate business teams with independent or open offices and R&D facilities, but also offers incubation services such as start-up business counseling and group nurture.
