China Data Center Opened at Tsinghua

A ceremony was held at Tsinghua’s School of Economics and Management(SEM) to mark the opening of China Data Center (CDC) on November 22. Ms. Jiang Xiaojuan, Vice Director of the Research Office of the State Council, Professor Chen Xi, Vice Minister of Education, Professor Hu Heping, Tsinghua University Council Chairman, Professor Chen Jining, Executive President of Tsinghua University attended the ceremony, which was hosted by Tsinghua Vice President Xie Weihe. 

The CDC is a university-level research center co-directed by Professor Qian Yingyi, Dean of Tsinghua SEM, and Professor Li Qiang, Dean of Tsinghua’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The CDC aims to provide top-grade data, data analysis service and studies for the Chinese government, domestic and international institutes, and other social researchers. It also intends to promote cross-disciplinary developments in the social and natural sciences.

The CDC’s responsibilities include collecting, filing and exploring economic and social data accumulated in practices and researches from a variety of sources; conducting focused surveys and policy studies; tackling key problems in China’s socio-economic practices; conducting long-term research in such critical areas as education and labor market studies; strengthening academic collaboration between universities at home and abroad; and carrying out in-depth research into cutting-edge social theories and methodologies.
