The Tsinghua Siemens R&D Cooperation Day was held at Tsinghua University on November 9. It provided an opportunity for researchers and experts from both Siemens and Tsinghua to exchange ideas and further promote areas of collaboration. This is the second time Tsinghua and Siemens have arranged such an event.
Experts and scholars from both sides used the occasion to discuss research and collaboration in workshops on such fields as energy, industry, and healthcare.
“As a result of our collaboration with Siemens, great achievements have been made so far, and we are very pleased to see the areas of our collaboration continue to expand,” said Tsinghua Vice President Chen Xu in her address to the audience at the opening ceremony that morning.
Dr. Richard Hausmann, CEO of Siemens Northeast Asia and President and CEO of Siemens Ltd., China, and Dr. Natascha Eckert, Head of Research and Cooperation, Cooperate Technology at Siemens, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches on, respectively, “Siemens in China” and “University Collaboration”.
Through various kinds of cooperation during the past few years, Siemens and Tsinghua have established a firm relationship. The two have signed a strategic cooperative agreement emphasizing the beneficial combination of knowledge and technology. In 2008, the Tsinghua Office of the Centre for Knowledge Interchange (CKI) was established to facilitate the collaboration between Siemens and Tsinghua. The first Tsinghua Siemens R&D Cooperation Day was held in 2008.
