The Secretary General of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Mr. Kenneth J. Mcgillivray visited the campus on May 27th. Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin exchanged ideas with Mr. Mcgillivray during his visit. They discussed laboratory construction, English courses, education, low carbon energy research, and university development. Mr. Mcgillivray and President Gu jointly expressed the hope that Tsinghua and APRU could build additional collaborations through dean conferences and student forums in the future.They also discussed the planning for APRU’s Annual President’s meeting which is scheduled to be held at Tsinghua in 2011.
Established in 1997, APRU is a consortium of 42 of the Pacific Rim’s leading research universities which aims to foster education, research and enterprises which contribute to the economic, scientific and cultural advancement in the region.
