Tsinghua President Gu Binglin and Professor Li Xueqin together inaugurated Tsinghua University’s Center for Excavated Texts Research and Preservation (CETRP) on April 25th. Tsinghua historian Professor Li has been named the Center’s first Director.
Tsinghua Vice President Xie Weihe announced the inauguration of the Center. Tsinghua University Council Vice Chairperson Han Jingyang hosted the ceremony. Well-known experts from universities and research institutes also attended the event.
Professor Liu Jiahe from Beijing Normal University, Professor Hu Pingsheng from the Chinese Academy of Cultural Heritage, and Professor Bu Xianqun from the Institute of Chinese History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences spoke separately at the ceremony. They expressed their appreciation for Tsinghua’s efforts to preserve and to conduct research on the excavated texts, and they emphasized the significance of the work the CETRP was created to do.
Professor Li later introduced and explained in more depth the studies currently underway on Warring States period bamboo strips which had been collected at Tsinghua.
