A number of outstanding Tsinghua teachers and researchers were honored at a ceremony in the Main Building April 16 for their excellence in teaching and research in 2008.

Attending the event were Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin, Tsinghua University Council Chairman Hu Heping, Tsinghua Vice President Kang Kejun, Tsinghua Vice President Wang Jinsong, Tsinghua University Council Vice Chairperson Han Jingyang, and Tsinghua Vice President Yuan Si.

President Gu congratulated the honorees and stressed the importance of innovation in teaching and research in his remarks. He said that the university should make full use its advantages in science and technology innovation to further promote the transformation of achievements and technology transfer and help improve the national enterprises’ capabilities of self-innovation. He encouraged the faculty to further improve the quality and level of teaching and research to contribute to the fighting against the current financial crisis in the world.
