A number of outstanding Tsinghua teachers and researchers were honored at a ceremony in the Main Building April 10 for their excellence in teaching and research in 2007. Recognition and commendation went to elite courses, outstanding Ph.D dissertation supervisors, National Teaching Achievement Awards, and State Science and Technology Awards recipients.

Attending the event were Tsinghua President Gu Binglin, Chairman of University Council Chen Xi, Vice President Kang Kejun, Vice President Wang Jinsong, Vice President Xie Weihe, Vice Chairperson of the University Council Cheng Jianpipng, and Vice President Yuan Si.

President Gu congratulated the honorees and stressed the importance of innovation in teaching and research in his remarks. He encouraged the faculty to further improve the quality and level of research at Tsinghua in order to continue to make progress in the future.
