Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf visited Tsinghua on Monday and spoke about the “Pakistan-China Partnership for Peace, Harmony, and Development” in the Main Building. Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin exchanged ideas with President Musharraf prior to the speech on education and development collaboration. Tsinghua Vice President Xie Weihe also participated in the discussion.
In his speech, President Musharraf expressed warm congratulations and best wishes to the Beijing Olympics and reviewed the world’s transformation in the past sixty years. He said China has made great progress in the past two decades and hoped that more collaboration could be built in future between Pakistan and China. President Musharraf answered student questions after his speech.

Also that day, the Pakistan Culture and Communication Center officially opened at Tsinghua University. Tsinghua President Gu and President Musharraf unveiled the Center. Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Mr. Salman Bashir and Tsinghua Vice President Xie Weihe signed the memorandum of understanding for the newly-built Center.
