The Tsinghua team won a silver medal in the 32nd Annual ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) International Collegiate Programming Contest World Finals on April 9 in Canada. The team was composed of three undergraduate students (Wang Dong, Long Fan, and Tang Wenbin) from the Department of Computer Science and Technology.
More than 6,700 teams from 1,821 universities in 83 countries participated in the contest. In all 100 teams went into the final competition.
Initiated in 1970, the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest is one of the most influential competitions for global university students to compete in computer programming. The top four teams in the competition won gold medals. St. Petersburg University of IT, Mechanics and Optics won the overall gold medal.
