The Honorable Dirk Jan Van den Berg, the Netherlands’ Ambassador to China, was President Gu Binglin’s guest when he visited Tsinghua University on October 29. Mr. Van den Berg will assume the post of Vice Chancellor of Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in 2008.

President Gu welcomed Ambassador Van den Berg to Tsinghua and extended congratulations to him on the occasion of his recently announced appointment as Delft’s Vice Chancellor. In his remarks, President Gu said, “I hope your visit promotes further collaboration between TU Delft and Tsinghua”. The two exchanged ideas on joint-degree programs and other forms of cooperation during their talk.

Tsinghua and TU Delft have enjoyed a good working relationship and close cooperation since early in 1982.
