Female faculty, students receive Sun Microsystems Inc. award
Several female teachers and students recently received the prestigious Sun Microsystems Inc. Award, given by the global computer giant to recognize outstanding women at Tsinghua University.

Recipients of the $US5,000 award were faculty members Zhu Yingxin from the School of Architecture and Huang Xia from the Department of Environmental Science and Technology, and four Tsinghua students.

Guest speaker at the Nov. 18 ceremony, held at the Main Building, was Kim Jones, Vice President of Global Education and Research Line of Business at Sun Microsystems Inc. In her speech “Experience of the Professional Female,” Ms. Jones talked about her 20-year rise to success in the international corporation.

Li Xiaoxiao, one of the student winners, spoke on behalf of her fellow recipients.

Sun Microsystems Inc has donated 48 servers to Tsinghua University. Sun China Engineering & Research Institute is located in the Tsinghua Science Park.
