ACM Int'l Collegiate Programming Contest Concludes

The Asia-Beijing Regional Contest of the 27th ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) International Collegiate Programming Contest was held at Tsinghua on Oct. 27. About 100 teams and more than 400 contestants from nearly 50 universities in China, and Tokyo University participated in the contest.

 

After the five-hour fierce competition, five teams from Shanghai Transportation University, Zhejing University and Zhongshan University won the gold awards, and ten teams from other universities including Chinese Science and Technology University won the silver awards.Tsinghua, as the sponsor of the contest, did not participate.

 

Started in 1970, the ACM contest is an annual event sponsored by the American Computer Association.As one of the first Chinese universities to participate in the contest, Tsinghua reached the finals in each year it entered. In the 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th world finals, Tsinghua ranked seventh, eleventh, fourth, eleventh, and fourth, respectively.

 

This year's contest was supported by IBM.
