On April 23, Tsinghua President Li Luming met with Stefan Hartung, chairman of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH. The two sides held discussions on further deepening their cooperation.

President Li Luming extended a warm welcome to Stefan Hartung and his delegation on behalf of Tsinghua University. He provided an overview of the University's progress in implementing its global strategy, supporting the national "dual carbon" strategy, and leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance various initiatives. He emphasized that Tsinghua has maintained a long-standing and close partnership with the Bosch Group, including the establishment of the Tsinghua-Bosch Joint Research Center on Machine Learning. The collaboration has yielded fruitful results in areas such as artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, and green energy.
President Li highlighted the University’s strong commitment to addressing the challenges posed by climate change. He noted that Tsinghua has initiated the "Carbon Neutrality and Energy System Transformation" (CNEST) multilateral collaboration program to foster projects aimed at advancing global carbon neutrality and energy system transformation. He expressed the hope that the signing of the agreement would serve as an opportunity to further deepen the cooperation between the two sides, strengthen multidisciplinary joint research, enhance faculty and student exchanges, and work together to contribute to the green transformation of energy systems and promote global sustainable development.
Stefan Hartung emphasized that the Bosch Group remains firmly committed to climate action, with low-carbon principles deeply integrated across all of its global operations and value chains. Through sustainable and innovative technologies, Bosch continues to empower key business sectors – including mobility, industrial technology, consumer goods, and energy and building technology – by delivering low-carbon solutions. By joining the CNEST program, initiated by Tsinghua University, Bosch will further strengthen its focus on cutting-edge research in low-carbon technologies. Building on its long-standing and close partnership with Tsinghua University, the company aims to jointly address global climate challenges and drive meaningful progress toward a more sustainable future.

In the presence of Li Luming, Stefan Hartung, Professor Zhang Bo, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor in Tsinghua’s Department of Computer Science and Technology, and Markus Heyn, member of the board of management, Robert Bosch GmbH, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by He Kebin, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and dean of Institute for Carbon Neutrality, Tsinghua University, and David Xu, president of Bosch China, on behalf of their respective organizations.
