The 2022 IEEE International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application (ICHVE 2022) was convened in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality from September 25 to 29.
Wang Feipeng, president of the IEEE ICHVE and professor of Chongqing University, announced the winners of the 2022 IEEE Steven A. Boggs Young Professional Achievement Award and the 2022 IEEE Caixin Sun and Stan Gryzbowski Young Professional Achievement Award on behalf of the IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society's (DEIS) awards committee at the conference.
Li Chuanyang, a young teacher and assistant researcher from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University, was bestowed with the 2022 IEEE Steven A. Boggs Young Professional Achievement Award for his research results in "surface charge accumulation, partial discharge and flashover phenomena", becoming the first Chinese recipient of the award.
Yang Yang, an alumnus of Tsinghua University, received the 2022 IEEE Caixin Sun and Stan Gryzbowski Young Professional Achievement Award for his groundbreaking research in "self-healing of electrical damage in dielectrics."
The IEEE Steven A. Boggs Young Professional Achievement Award was established by the IEEE DEIS in 2018 to be given every two years to honor individuals chosen on a worldwide basis who have achieved significant results in the field of dielectrics and electrical insulation.
The IEEE Caixin Sun and Stan Gryzbowski Young Professional Achievement Award was created in commemoration of the outstanding achievements made by Sun Caixin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and a professor at Chongqing University, and Stanislaw Grzybowski, a professor and director of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Mississippi State University, in the high voltage field. Every two years, a Lifetime Achievement Award winner and a Young Professional Achievement Award winner are selected globally to reward scholars who have made outstanding contributions in the field of high voltage engineering technology and development.
