Tsinghua School of Public Policy and Management (SPPM) Global Advisory Board Inaugurated
Chinese Vice Premier meets members of the Global Advisory Board


On November 1st, Tsinghua University's School of Public Policy and Management (SPPM) Global Advisory Board (GAB) inaugural meeting and the first GAB meeting were held in Tsinghua University. Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan met with members of the Global Advisory Board of Tsinghua University's School of Public Policy and Management that afternoon.

Vice Premier Sun briefed GAB members on the fourth plenary session of the 19th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, pointing out that the session has reviewed and adopted the CPC Central Committee's decision on some major issues concerning system construction and capacity of governance, which are of profound importance.

She said that under the leadership of the CPC and the guidance of the CPC’s scientific theories, China's national system has shown great vitality.

Sun hoped the members could carefully study the system and governance pattern behind China's development and promote exchanges and mutual learning.

GAB members in attendance said they were ready to enhance cooperation in public management research and make contributions to promoting the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.

Qiu Yong, President of Tsinghua University and Chen Xu, Chairperson of the Tsinghua University Council, also attended the meeting.

At the inaugural meeting, President Qiu Yong, on behalf of Tsinghua University, extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests. He recognized the outstanding achievements made by the Tsinghua SPPM in terms of academic research, talent cultivation, think tank building and social service over the years. Qiu Yong pointed out that the establishment of the GAB of the SPPM is a remarkable event for Tsinghua University, which has come a long way in Tsinghua’s efforts to build a world-class public management discipline and is of strategic significance to the future development of the SPPM. He expected all GAB members to express their views, speak freely, and continue to contribute wisdom and strength to the reform and development of Tsinghua’s public management discipline.

So as to better promote the overall development and enhance the international influence of the SPPM of Tsinghua University, and to better serve the goal of national governance, the SPPM decided to set up the GAB, which will play an important role in introducing China to the world and providing Chinese experience and solutions for global governance. The GAB is composed of 34 experts and scholars, business elites and political leaders from 11 countries and regions, aimed at providing forward-looking strategic guidance and suggestions for the teaching and research work of the SPPM, and for the construction and development of a modern national governance system.
