Tsinghua University held its 2026 Graduate Commencement Ceremony on June 28.

Leaders of the University attended the ceremony. Tsinghua University Vice President and Provost Peng Gang presided over the ceremony and announced the graduation of the Class of 2026 graduate students and the conferral of doctoral and master’s degrees.

Secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee Qiu Yong announced the commendation of outstanding and excellent PhD and master’s graduates and conveyed his expectations and best wishes to the students. He encouraged the graduates, in an era of flourishing artificial intelligence, to never give up independent thinking, safeguard their inner values, uphold rational choice, and embrace “conscious initiative,” translating thought into action. He further urged them to let faith guide their direction and dedication illuminate their future, and to inscribe their own chapter in the historic journey of building a great country and achieving national rejuvenation.

Li Luming delivers a speech.
President of Tsinghua University and Chair of the University Academic Degrees Committee Li Luming delivered a speech titled “Stand Firm at the Forefront, Forge Ahead through Difficulties.” He extended congratulations on behalf of the University to the graduates who had successfully completed their postgraduate studies, as well as to their families, and expressed sincere gratitude to the teachers who had devoted great effort to supporting their academic growth. He encouraged the graduates to hold lofty ideals, face the road ahead without fear of hardship or obstacles, stay true to their direction and steady in their resolve; to summon the courage to forge new paths individually while building collective momentum through joint efforts, move steadily and far in overcoming difficulties; and to integrate one’s personal aspirations into national development, to remain unwavering through trials and hardships and never regret it, uphold the spirit that “success need not bear my name, but success will surely include my contribution,” and let their youth shine through relentless dedication to the country, the nation, the people, and humanity.

Zhao Ri delivers a speech.
Zhao Ri, an alumnus of the Department of Engineering Physics and currently chief engineer of the Nuclear and Radiation Technology Frontier Center at the China Institute for Radiation Protection, delivered a speech as the alumni representative. He shared his journey of being admitted to Tsinghua University from a mountainous region, and after graduation dedicating himself to research in nuclear industry radiation protection, where he pursued focused efforts and achieved breakthroughs. He urged students to stay confident and self-reliant, build up their strength over time, and let years of preparation lead to breakthrough success, creating their own miracles.

Zhou Zihan speaks at the ceremony.
Zhou Zihan, from the School of Software, spoke on behalf of the graduating students. She reflected on her journey of pursuing scientific research at Tsinghua and strengthening her commitment to serving the country, and expressed the hope that she and her fellow graduates would devote their youth to the places where the nation needs them most.
The graduation ceremony was broadcast live in both Chinese and English on the "Rain Classroom" platform, allowing graduates who were not physically present on campus and their family members to attend online.
