This year, with the Olympics being held in Paris, the alumni conference adopted an Olympic theme, encouraging alumni to build bridges of friendship and trust, embrace the Olympic spirit, and embark on a new chapter together.

In his video address, Li Luming expressed his gratitude to the alumni for their support for the development of the University. He affirmed the important role that the European Tsinghua Alumni Convention and alumni organizations have played in assisting in the construction of their alma mater. He noted that through their actions, alumni embody the University motto of "Self-Discipline and Social Commitment" and the school spirit of "Actions Speak Louder than Words". Alumni are striving for excellence in various fields and working together to make significant contributions to national development, China-Europe cooperation and global progress, he said.

After introducing developments at Tsinghua, Li Luming stated that the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has provided a clear direction for comprehensively advancing reforms in education, science and technology, and talent systems, and for promoting the high-quality development of higher education. At present, Tsinghua is actively implementing the strategic plan of building a leading country in education and is making every effort to promote the university's high-quality development. Li said Tsinghua expects to join hands with alumni from all walks of life in courageously assuming the responsibilities of the times, working together to meet challenges, and advancing global exchange and cooperation through concrete actions, thereby making new contributions to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

In his address, Thomas Bach praised Tsinghua University not only for its outstanding academic achievements and comprehensive education but also for its strong tradition in sports. He mentioned that many Tsinghua alumni and students participated in the Olympics, bringing honor to both the university and China, and showcasing the spirit of Tsinghua on the world stage. He expressed his hope that Tsinghua alumni would continue to actively promote the Olympic spirit of “Faster, Higher, Stronger—Together”, both at home and abroad.
