Professor Li Luming appointed Tsinghua University President

Professor Li Luming was appointed President of Tsinghua University and Deputy Secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee on December 22, with approval from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Wang Xiqin will no longer serve as Tsinghua University President.

The announcement of the new president was made at a meeting held at Tsinghua University on December 22. Peng Jinhui, Deputy Director of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, announced the decision and delivered a speech. Chen Jie, Vice Minister of Education and member of the CPC Leading Group of Ministry of Education, You Jun, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, Director of the Organization Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, and Secretary of the Working Committee of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Qiu Yong, Secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee, hosted the meeting.

Professor Li Luming was born in February 1968. He is a Doctor of Engineering, a member of the Communist Party of China, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has previously served as Vice President of Tsinghua University.
