MID Program Office Holds the First Internship Fair

On May 14, MID Program Office held its inauguratory internship fair. Many of our cooperating partners and MID students participated in the fair. The internship fair was initiated by Dean Xue with the goal to liaise students with corporations and organizations that provide internship opportunities in China while providing a platform for MID students to showcase their talents.

Prior to the internship fair, the MID Program had disseminated information of internship positions to students and held a career workshop in April. Human resource management professionals attended the career workshop and provided MID students with helpful advice on resume writing. Students prepared extensively for the fair during the one-month period between the career workshop and internship fair; they brought resumes and engaged in one-on-one talks with corporations and organizations which they are interested in applying. Many of them raise specific questions on internship positions. Our internship partners and MID students spoke highly of the internship fair.

Internship is a compulsory component of the MID curriculum and should be off-campus, in summer or the forth semester, for a duration of ten weeks. To give our students a better understanding of China’s developmental challenges, the MID Program Office established internship bases at Heibei’s Caofeidian Eco-city and with Sichuan’s Shuimo Town of Wenchuan County Government. In addition, the program office established working relationship with nine organizations, with the aim to provide internship positions, field studies, and volunteer activities, greatly expanding social practice opportunities for our MID students.
