The Department accept excellent undergraduate students from Tsinghua University and from Universities other than Tsinghua by recommendation and exemption from the entrance exam to study for Master Degree or Doctoral Degree. The Department also accept students who have achieved satisfactory performance at the graduate student entrance exam to study for Master Degree or Doctoral Degree. The excellent graduate students seeking for Master Degree with great potential may apply to begin their doctoral program ahead of schedule.

The period of schooling for master degree usually lasted two to three years; for doctoral degree, lasted three to four years. The program combined with master and doctorate degrees usually lasted four to five years.

For those working staffs with Bachelor Degree and engineering experience, may be accepted to the Master of Engineering Program by recommendation. The Department offers opportunities to those who satisfy the requirements to study Master Engineering Program as on-the-job graduate students. The Department also offers orientational education program for Master Degree.
